About the event

This workshop will cover the perspectives of each partner, the developmental phases from meeting to aging, communication issues, challenges in the relationship, factors to promote success, managing stress and supporting each other, sharing the workload of a household/family, affection and intimacy, love languages, and will also include an introduction to the components of Tony and Michelle’s new 8 Session Couples Group Therapy Programme “The Relationship Minefield”.

Tickets

The cost is $125 per person (add $75 per person for each additional person) , including the workshop and all food and refreshments.

Prof. Tony Attwood

Tony is a clinical psychologist who has specialised in autism spectrum disorders since he qualified as a clinical psychologist in England in 1975. He works in his own private practice, and is also adjunct professor at Griffith University, Queensland and senior consultant at the Minds and Hearts clinic in Brisbane. His book Asperger’s Syndrome – A Guide for Parents and Professionals has sold over 350,000 copies and has been translated into over 25 languages. He has worked with over 8,000 individuals of all ages with Asperger's Syndrome or an Autism Spectrum Disorder.

Tony presents workshops and runs training courses for parents, professionals and individuals with Asperger's Syndrome all over the world and is a prolific author of scientific papers and books on the subject. His book The Complete Guide to Asperger’s Syndrome was published in October 2006 and he has several subsequent books published by Jessica Kingsley Publishers, Future Horizons Inc. and Guilford Press.

Dr Michelle Garnett

Michelle is a Clinical Psychologist and Founder and Director of “Minds & Hearts,” a psychology clinic that provides services specifically for Asperger’s Syndrome, Autism and related conditions. Michelle has specialised in autism spectrum conditions (ASC) for over 20 years, developing expertise in all subtypes of autism across all ages.

Michelle created the first screening instrument for Asperger’s Syndrome, the Australian Scale for Asperger's Syndrome (ASAS) in 1993. She obtained a PhD for her research on ASC in 2007 from the University of Queensland, Australia. Since then she has co-authored three books on ASC with Prof Tony Attwood, and a number of peer reviewed journal articles. She provides training in ASC for postgraduate clinical students for four Australian Universities.
